The New Renault Master Hits the Market

None

After 14 years, the fourth generation of the Renault Master has hit the market. This model, first introduced in 1980, boasts a history of over 40 years and more than 3 million units sold. The new Master distinguishes itself from its predecessors with a modern look and technological enhancements. The designers have opted for an unconventional grille, horizontal C-shaped LED lights, and a robust bumper. The rear of the vehicle has been narrowed for better aerodynamics, yet the cargo area and the rear door aperture retain their size. A characteristic feature of the Master is the asymmetric rear window and the distinctive C-shaped pattern of the rear lights. The side panels have been reinforced to resist deformations and ensure the vehicle's durability.

Optimized Aerodynamics

One of the main innovations is the improved aerodynamics, which have resulted in a 20% reduction in the drag coefficient Scx compared to the previous generation. A shorter hood, more inclined windshield, modified side mirrors, and a sloped roof are just some of the improvements that enhance aerodynamics. This optimization not only increases cabin acoustic comfort but also reduces energy consumption in electric versions, positively impacting the overall cost of ownership.

Comfortable and Modern Driver's Workplace

The interior of the new Renault Master is designed to provide comfort comparable to personal vehicles. The S-shaped dashboard is driver-oriented and offers more space. A 10-inch multimedia system screen is part of the standard equipment. The steering wheel, taken from personal vehicles, is adjustable in height and depth. Versions with an automatic transmission have the gear lever moved to the steering column, freeing up space on the center console.

Advanced Technologies

The OpenR Link system with an integrated Google operating system offers Google Maps navigation, a Google Play app catalog, and Google Assistant voice assistant. The infotainment system is compatible with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, including wireless versions. Additional equipment includes a wireless charger for smartphones.

The cabin of the new Master offers up to 135 liters of storage space, which is 25% more than the previous model. Storage compartments are located on the dashboard, in front of the passenger, in the cabin ceiling, and in the doors. The seats are designed to be durable and easy to maintain. The cabin can be easily transformed into a mobile office with a work table and USB-C ports for charging.

Utility Features and Variability

The Renault Master will be available in 20 body versions with a cargo space volume ranging from 11 to 22 m3. Side sliding doors are 40 mm wider, and the cargo area is extended by 100 mm. Customers can choose from various basic conversion versions.

The new Master offers three types of propulsion: diesel engines, electric motors, and hydrogen-powered versions. Diesel engines are available with power outputs of 105, 130, 150, and 170 hp, with consumption reduced by 1.5 liters per 100 km compared to the previous generation. Electric versions are equipped with motors of 96 kW or 105 kW and have a range of up to 410 km. Hydrogen versions will be introduced later.

Safety and Assistance Systems

Renault Master is equipped with 20 assistance systems, including side stability assist, automatic emergency braking, and trailer stability assist. Electric versions may include Vehicle-to-Load (V2L) and Vehicle-to-Grid (V2G) functions, which allow powering electrical devices directly from the vehicle.

The OpenR Link operating system enables the use of applications directly in the cabin. Drivers can use apps like Google Maps, browse emails through the Vivaldi browser, or watch videos on YouTube. The My Renault app allows for vehicle maintenance tracking and more.

Prices Yet to Be Announced

Master has earned a reputation as a reliable delivery vehicle available at reasonable prices. Getting a lease or loan was easier because it was priced lower than the competition. Whether it will maintain this advantage in the new generation and what the financing options for this utility vehicle will be remains a question, as Renault has not yet released the price lists.
